A group of scientists from the Lomonosov Moscow State University, guided by G.A. Larionov, did fundamental work in 1993 to estimate rainfall erosivity for the USSR. The erosivity coefficient was calculated for all meteorological stations of the USSR at which precipitation intensity was measured (660 stations) during the 60s—80s XX century.
