Description

This dataset is from a study examining the food consumption habits, frequency of vitamin K-rich and functional food intake, and dietary supplement use of patients receiving warfarin therapy. The study was conducted cross-sectionally with 130 participants, and sociodemographic information, medication adherence, frequency of food consumption, and supplement use were collected through face-to-face interviews. The dataset includes measurements of food groups and vitamin K intake, distributions by gender, and supplement use. The analyses are reported in the article.

Steps to reproduce

Data analysis was conducted using the SPSS 21.0 package program at a 95% confidence level. General information about patients taking warfarin was summarized using frequency and percentage statistics. Descriptive statistical methods were used to analyze the study data: mean ± standard deviation (X̄ ± SD), number and percentage values, median, and minimum-maximum values. Macro, micronutrient, and energy intake were calculated. Vitamin K intake was evaluated by giving both the amount (mcg/day) and the percentage (%) of meeting the recommended daily adequate intake according to TUBER values. The normal distribution of continuous variables was evaluated using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests, and nonparametric tests were applied to variables that did not show a normal distribution. For comparisons between genders, normally distributed data were analyzed using the Independent samples t-test, and non-normally distributed data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test. The Friedman test was used to evaluate the vitamin K intake of participants from different food groups because it did not show a normal distribution. In cases where significant differences were detected with the Friedman test, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test (post-hoc) was applied for pairwise comparisons. The relationship between quantitative measurements that did not show a normal distribution (vitamin K intake and anticoagulant parameters (INR and PTz coefficient values) was assessed using Spearman's rank correlation coefficient (rho). Statistical significance was considered at p<0.05 in all analyses
