Description

The dataset contains experimental results from the leaching of lead from fire assay slag using acetic acid, together with complementary materials and characterization data. It includes: X-ray diffraction (XRD) dataset of the fire assay slag (mineralogical phases) X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyses of the fire assay slag (bulk chemical composition) Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) image of the fire assay slag (surface morphology) Lead concentration measurements in the leachates at various times, temperatures, acid concentrations, and solid-to-liquid ratios Kinetic modelling results showing the fit of the experimental leaching data to different shrinking-core models The characterization results showed that the slag is highly amorphous and contained high amount of aluminosilicate as well as a substantial amount of lead (9%). Leaching results showed that leaching efficiency increased with increasing acetic acid concentration, leaching time, temperature, and decreasing solid-to-liquid ratio.

Steps to reproduce

The data was obtained from characterizations. Additional calculations were performed to convert the values to a suitable unit. In order to reproduce, ensure that the particle size of the fire assay slag is around -75 microns. Also, uniformly mix sample before collecting samples for the various characterization tests. Leaching should be done at exact conditions.
