Social attitudes towards energy, energy transition and environmental policy in EU
Description
A quantitative survey study conducted in six European countries: France, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Germany, and Poland. In each country, 800 people were surveyed, totalling 4,800 respondents. The study was conducted in November and December 2023. The respondents were recruited by a professional research agency, and the sample was stratified randomly, with quotas established for age, gender, education level, and size of locality to ensure that its structure matched the distribution of each country’s population. The study included adults who are responsible for energy consumption decisions in their households—specifically those who paid electricity bills or purchased household electrical appliances. The questionnaire was prepared in the English language and then translated into the languages used in the countries where the study was conducted with the help of a professional translation agency. The survey was completed independently by respondents on a computer (37%), tablet (12%), or mobile phone (51%). The graphical format of the survey was designed to ensure that the questions and answers were legible on each of these devices. The average time to complete the survey was twenty minutes.
