Description

The data in the manuscript "Life-history traits, maturation, and energy allocation of a small-size, short-lived mesopelagic squid Abralia multihamata" was used to estimate the life-history traits, maturation patterns, and energy allocation between somatic and reproductive growth, with a focus on sex-specific characteristics in post-recruit individuals. For details on how the measures of somatic condition, lifetime growth, and reproductive investment were calculated, please refer to the "Materials and Methods" section of the manuscript. The terms used in the heading are listed as follows: Spec. No.: Specimen number BW: Body weight ML: Dorsal mantle length Mat. Stage: Maturity stage (from 1 to 4) NidG_wt: Combined weight of the nidamental gland and accessory nidamental gland (for females) duct_wt: Oviduct weight (for females) or sperm duct weight (for males) TET or OVA_wt: Ovary weight (for females) or testis weight (for males) Liver_wt: Liver weight Stoma_wt: Stomach weight Age: Age of the squid, determined from statolith microstructure analysis.
