Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by features including persistent erythema, telangiectasia, papulopustular lesions, phymatous changes, and potential ocular involvement. Epidemiologic studies vary widely in reporting rosacea prevalence, ranging from <1% to 22%.1 This wide variation is likely due to differences in methodology and populations, where studies relying on self-report surveys generally report higher prevalence.2 Population-based studies utilizing database diagnostic codes or dermatologist examination may be more reflective of overall prevalence. This systematic review and meta-analysis examines population-based evidence regarding the prevalence of rosacea.
