Description

This dataset accompanies the study “Digital Standard-Setting Participation and Firm Digital Innovation: Evidence from Chinese Listed Firms.” It supports an empirical analysis of Chinese A-share listed firms from 2008 to 2021, examining the relationship between firms’ participation in digital standard-setting and digital innovation, as well as innovation-related spillovers to upstream suppliers and downstream customers. The study combines a machine-learning-based identification of digital standards with firm-level information on standard-setting participation, digital patenting, financial characteristics, and supply-chain relationships. The empirical analyses examine focal-firm innovation, asymmetric spillovers across supply-chain positions, and potential mechanisms involving innovation efficiency and interorganizational knowledge interaction. Additional analyses investigate how firm characteristics, institutional environments, and supply-chain relationships shape these associations. The dataset is shared to support research transparency, replication, and further research on digital standardization, firm innovation, and supply-chain spillovers. Please cite both this dataset and the associated paper when using these data.
