Description

This is an updated version of the SOC stocks estimate for Brazilian Pampa, based on the earlier studies (Tornquist et al. 2009, Pillar et al. 2012). The original dataset was extensively revised and enhanced with novel SOC stocks data from recent soil sampling campaigns, extensive literature review and the latest version of the soil map (IBGE 2018).

Steps to reproduce

SOC stocks data for the region of interest were compiled from recent soil sampling campaigns conducted in our research group, Brazilian soil databases and systematic literature review. The geospatial data processing in this study used ArcGIS (Esri,2023). We applied basic geoprocessing operations to revise and update previous regional SOC stocks estimates: Soil organic C stocks associated with different soil classes and land uses were assigned to the attribute table of the soil vector map. Other polygons representing geographic features such as water bodies, urban areas, and sand dunes were assigned zero SOC stock.
