This supplementary file contains additional figures referenced in the manuscript "Limitations of feed efficiency during the growth phase as an indicator of lactation performance in dairy Gyr heifers" by Botrel et al. Supplementary Figure S1 shows the distributions of residual feed intake during the growth phase (RFIg) and residual gain (RG) in Gyr heifers, evidencing the lack of significant correlation between these indicators. Supplementary Figure S2 presents the distributions and pairwise correlations of residual feed intake (RFI) and residual milk yield (RMY) in Gyr cows during the first lactation, estimated using uncorrected (RFI₀, RMY₀), fat-corrected (RFI₄, RMY₄), and energy-corrected (RFIₑ, RMYₑ) methods. Correlations among RFI indicators, and those among RMY indicators were high, confirming the consistency of these efficiency metrics.
