Technology Adoption in Pediatric Type 1 Diabetes After Subsidization Expansion
Description
In Hungary, starting in 2020, social security expanded subsidization for modern diabetes treatment devices, enabling nearly complete access to these technologies for children under 18 and young adults in higher education under 24. Our study aimed to analyze how healthcare systems shape the adoption of pediatric diabetes technologies and self-management pathways. We conducted a repeated cross-sectional study in two waves: before the subsidization expansion (2018) and after that (2025). We surveyed Hungarian parents of children with type 1 diabetes via an online questionnaire. We analyzed device usage rates, reasons for acceptance and rejection, and perceptions of the financing environment. We also identified respondent segments using hierarchical cluster analysis. The files contain questionnaires and the raw data for statistical analysis.
