Description

This dataset supports the study “Exposure, Governance and Corporate Resilience after Brexit: Separating Causal Identification from Predictive Vulnerability.” It contains the numerical results reported in the manuscript, figure-source data, variable definitions, model specifications, transformation records, formula-based verification calculations, and manuscript-to-workbook quality-control checks. The underlying sample covers 1,037 UK-listed firms across 71 GICS industries and 15 relative fiscal periods. The documentation identifies the available analytical inputs and the remaining limitations affecting exact computational re-estimation. Users should consult the workbook’s data-availability and reproducibility-limit worksheets before reusing the materials.

Steps to reproduce

1. Download the Excel workbook and open it using Microsoft Excel 2016 or a later version. 2. Begin with the Repository_README and Journal_Submission_README worksheets, which describe the dataset structure, included materials, access conditions and reproducibility scope. 3. Consult the Variable_Dictionary and Source_Field_Map worksheets for variable definitions, measurement rules, source fields and relative fiscal-period structure. 4. Review the Transformation_Audit worksheet for the documented order of data processing. Annual observations were winsorised at the 1st and 99th percentiles before applying the stated inverse-hyperbolic-sine or logarithmic transformations. 5. Use Model_Specifications to identify the estimands, fixed effects, control variables and inference procedures associated with the reported analyses. 6. Use Results_Index to connect each manuscript table and figure to its corresponding workbook worksheet and source range. 7. Review Table_04_Samples through Table_11_Forecasting for the reported numerical results. Figure_01_Data through Figure_06_Data contain the numerical series underlying the empirical figures. 8. Open Formula_Recalculation and EventStudy_CI to reproduce the formula-based confidence intervals and reported metric identities. Excel should recalculate these formulas automatically when the workbook is opened. 9. Review QC_Manuscript_Match, Audit_Coverage, Audit_Units and Raw_Data_Verification for sample-count reconciliation, unit checks, coverage diagnostics and manuscript-to-workbook consistency tests. 10. Where the licensed raw-data worksheet is included, use Raw_Data_Integrity to verify its structure and SHA-256 value digest against the source record. The workbook permits verification of reported results, figure data, formulas and sample reconciliation. Exact model re-estimation additionally requires the author-constructed 71-industry Brexit-exposure assignment, executable analysis code, software-version records, random seeds and actual fiscal-year-end dates. These materials were unavailable in the supplied archive and have not been reconstructed or fabricated.
