Sample Survey forest data - Pomene National Reserve
Description
This dataset documents a forest inventory conducted in the Pomene Reserve, Mozambique. The study used a fixed plot method, following the methodology of Mueller-Dombois and Ellenberg (1974), for the qualitative and quantitative assessment of tree and shrub vegetation. Sixty plots of 20 m × 50 m (1,000 m² each) were established, totaling a sampling area of 40,000 m² (4 ha) within a total study area of 200 ha, corresponding to a sampling intensity of 3%. The plots were georeferenced and demarcated using measuring tapes and ropes. All living individuals (except lianas) were numbered, and those with a Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) ≥ 10 cm had their measurements recorded. The floristic sampling followed two phases: the first (June 9–13, 2024) focused on marking sampling points and recording geographic coordinates, while the second (June 26–July 11, 2024) carried out the floristic and phytosociological survey.
