Maternal and Child Health Facilities in Coastal Districts of Bangladesh: A Geospatial Dataset

Description

This dataset provides a structured geospatial inventory of maternal and child health facilities located in the coastal districts of Bangladesh. It includes information on administrative location, facility name and type, geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude), distance from Dhaka, coastal classification based on the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Plan (ICZMP) framework, contextual notes, and source information. The dataset is designed to support research on the spatial distribution and accessibility of maternal and child health services in coastal Bangladesh. It can be used for geospatial analysis, health-service accessibility assessment, spatial inequality research, coastal vulnerability studies, and evidence-based planning of maternal and child healthcare services. The dataset contains 19 facility-level records and 10 variables in a structured tabular format. Geographic coordinates are provided in decimal degrees, while distance from Dhaka is reported in kilometres. The accompanying data dictionary defines each variable and its measurement format. The dataset was structurally cleaned prior to deposition by standardizing text fields, ensuring appropriate numeric formatting, and removing exact duplicate records. No substantive data values were intentionally imputed or fabricated. The source information supplied with the original dataset has been retained to support data provenance. Researchers using this dataset should consult and appropriately cite the original sources identified in the dataset. Individual facility records, geographic coordinates, coastal classifications, and distance measurements should be independently validated before being used for operational or high-stakes decision-making.
