Description

This dataset contains structured daily electricity-related information for Bangladesh, including electricity demand, generation, load shedding, supply-side constraints, generation-related information, weather-related variables, and calendar variables. This dataset extends the dataset published by Hossain, Md Ikrama; Nafs, Tasnia; and Yeaser, Sakif (2025), “Structured Dataset of Daily Electricity Demand, Generation, Load Shedding, and Supply Constraints in Bangladesh (2019–2024),” Mendeley Data, V1, DOI: 10.17632/x7r7wdb39k.1. The original 2019–2024 records are reused under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence. Additional daily electricity records were independently collected from the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Daily Generation Archive, extending the dataset through August 3, 2026. During the extended collection period, the format and presentation of the BPDB reports changed. Consequently, the extraction procedure used for the earlier reports could not be directly applied to all variables. A modified extraction procedure was developed for selected variables affected by changes in their positions, labels, or textual formats. These variables were extracted separately, checked, standardized, aligned by reporting date, and integrated with the main dataset. The variable “Minimum Generation Forecast up to 8:00 hrs.”, which was available in the earlier dataset, was not available in the BPDB reports used for the extended period and therefore could not be consistently extended. The resulting dataset provides an extended structured representation of available daily electricity information for Bangladesh and is intended to support research on electricity demand, generation, supply constraints, load shedding, power-system analytics, machine learning, and related energy-sector applications. Steps to reproduce

1. Obtain the original 2019–2024 dataset by Hossain et al. (2025), DOI: 10.17632/x7r7wdb39k.1. 2. Access the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Daily Generation Archive: [https://misc.bpdb.gov.bd/daily-generation-archive](https://misc.bpdb.gov.bd/daily-generation-archive) 3. Download the available daily BPDB reports after December 30, 2024, through August 3, 2026. 4. Extract text from the PDF reports using Python and PyMuPDF (`fitz`). 5. Use regular-expression-based extraction rules to extract the reporting date and selected variables, including: * Maximum demand * Minimum generation * Minimum generation forecast * Maximum temperature 6. Apply alternative extraction patterns where BPDB report formatting, labels, line breaks, or field positions differ between reports. 7. Standardize the extracted values and reporting dates, and flag records with missing or failed extractions for checking. 8. Combine the processed post-2024 records with the original 2019–2024 dataset while maintaining the existing variable structure. 9. Check the integrated data for date alignment, duplicate records, missing records, and consistency. 10. Produce the final structured dataset covering **November 21, 2019, to August 3, 2026**. 11. Refer to `Column_Descriptions.xlsx` for variable definitions, units, data types, and source information.
