Dataset for examining the role of mindset-relevant teaching practices in the mindset effect
Description
Data for the mindset-relevant teaching practices study were extracted from the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2018 dataset which is accessible on the website of the OECD (URL: http://www.oecd.org/pisa/data/2018database/). This dataset includes information on 146,922 15-year-old medium-performing students from 67 countries and regions. We used the data to test two hypothesized models (i.e., the mediation model and the moderation model) in Mplus. The model results answered the question about how mindset-relevant teaching practices influence the relationship between students’ growth mindset and reading performance. We have found that mindset-relevant teaching practices moderate the relationship between students’ mindset and reading performance and the mindset effect is enhanced by growth-mindset-oriented teaching practices.
