Reducing self-stigma in people with severe mental illness participating in a regular football league

The sample population was composed of 108 people suffering from SMI, with ages ranging from 20 to 68 years of age. The present study uses the Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness scale (ISMI) wich has five dimensions: alienation, stereotype endorsement, perceived discrimination, social withdrawal and stigma resistance. Sociodemographic data such as gender, age, diagnosis, participation in Ligasame, playing a sport, weekly hours of physical activity as well as rehabilitation or association resources were evaluated.
