Description

This research focuses on analyzing the relationship between gadget usage, sleep disturbances, and productivity levels among BINUS University students. The data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed to BINUS students from various faculties and years of study. The dataset includes demographic information (such as age, gender, and study program), duration and purpose of gadget use (academic, entertainment, or social media), sleep patterns (bedtime, sleep duration, and sleep quality), as well as self-assessed productivity levels during study hours.

Steps to reproduce

The data for this research on Sleep Disorders and Productivity due to Gadget Use among BINUS University Students were collected through online interviews with ten BINUS students from different majors. Before the interviews, our team prepared twelve open-ended questions focusing on the causes, impacts, emotions, and coping strategies related to gadget overuse and sleep problems. Participants were selected based on criteria such as age (18–24), active student status, and frequent gadget use. The interviews were conducted online via Google Meet or WhatsApp to make it easier for participants to join, each lasting about 15–25 minutes. Their answers were recorded, transcribed, and summarized into a document. From there, we identified recurring themes such as lack of focus, fatigue, FOMO, and poor time management. These qualitative responses were then organized into a structured dataset using Microsoft Excel and Python (Pandas library), where each column represented key aspects like “Problem,” “Cause,” “Impact,” and “Solution.” This process allowed us to transform narrative interview data into a clear, structured form that can be easily analyzed and reproduced by future researchers.
