Mineral Uptake and elemental accumulation profiling in Piper betle L. leaves of Coastal Odisha Region

Elemental analysis of soils and leafs is widely employed to quantify the fertilizer and nutrients imbalance pertaining to deficit in agricultural productivity. EDXRF methodology offers an ideal technique to evaluate the direct detection of dried powdered leaf samples. This strategy enabled the concurrent determination of Mg2+, Ca 2+, P-3, K+, Fe2+, Cu2+, B-1, Si+1, Al+3, Ti+4, Mn+4 etc. This present study discriminates depositional behavior of macro minerals like P, S leaf varieties of Bali, Chandrakana and Jhanji. However, Chandrakana variety promotes highest micro mineral accumulation and Jhanji one the least. Vineyard sandy soils of BLS and BUS impart more MnO as compared to clayey soils of PLS and PUS. It also reflects high abundance of Cl in clayey soils relative to sandy soils. Thus, the present findings promote EDXRF employment for direct detection of agricultural samples. The outcomes also motivate further studies for trialing other crops for nutrition and deficiency analysis.
