Description

This dataset contains all data generated for the study "CELL SIZE INFLUENCES INORGANIC CARBON ACQUISITION IN ARTIFICIALLY SELECTED PHYTOPLANKTON". Also contained in the repository are the original photos from optical microscopy and transmission electron microscopy of the size-evolved cells. The cell size treatments are generally indicated with "S" (small-selected lineages), "C" (Control lineages - intermediate cell sizes), and "L" (large-selected lineages). All analyses are done using software R, except photo analysis that was done in Fiji.

Files

Steps to reproduce

All photos for TEM and optical microscopy are in standard image formats. For accessing the data, all spreadsheets are in standard formats (.csv and .xlsx). For accessing the analyses, the main file is called “Plots.R”. Open it with statistical software R. Within the script file: (1) check that all packages are installed in the computer (otherwise install before running the script), and (2) set the directory where the "Main script.R" file is in the computer. After having done that, everything else should work by simply running the file in R. The script will read all data, calculate the statistics, plot the images, and save the images in the same folder where the script file is. The file is designed to run in Mac computers.
