Description

Opportunistic anaerobic pathogen Porphyromonas gingivalis (P.gingivalis) has been associated with poor clinical outcomes in patients with oral squamous cell carcinomas (OSCC). However, precise roles and mechanisms by which P.gingivalis infection enhances OSCC growth/proliferation or resistance to cell death remain elusive. Here, we determined that P.gingivalis infection mediates therapeutic resistance via inhibiting lethal mitophagy in OSCC cells and orthotopic tumors.
