Description

After the data were interpreted by landset remote sensing images and normalized by slope data and vegetation coverage data, a new index that can measure the development degree of rocky desertification was constructed together, namely the rocky desertification index.

Steps to reproduce

In order to quantify the impact of rocky desertification on ecosystem services, this article selects three factors that directly reflect the degree of rocky desertification based on previous relevant literature to construct a rocky desertification index, namely terrain slope, vegetation coverage, and rock exposure data, to characterize and quantify the degree of rocky desertification. As the most obvious feature of rocky desertification areas, rock exposure plays a crucial role in extracting information about rocky desertification. The Normalized Difference Rock Index (NDRI) is used to obtain the rock exposure rate (Fr) of the study area. Due to the significant differences in spectral information of karst carbonate rocks in the short wave infrared band, the NDVI based binary model calculation method is used to calculate the NDRI of the study area through band operation in ENVI5.3, and then calculate the rock exposure rate. Normalize all three indicators, then multiply them and open the root square to obtain the rocky desertification index.
