Description

The data base assesses seven factors that influence the adoption of solar photovoltaic energy: perceived costs, environmental concern, perceived quality and trust in the current energy provider, and cognitive biases, including risk preferences, social influence bias, and inertia bias. The test section of the survey included a sample of a typical electricity bill from the Mexican electric utility (Fedel Electricity Commission, CFE), along with six questions about billing information such as tariff charges and conceptual terms included in the bill. For data analysis, respondents were categorized into two groups: participants who failed (1 to 3 correct answers) and participants with a satisfactory grade (4 to 6 correct answers) .

Also contains demographic factors used as control variables. The responses of participants were evaluated using a seven-point Likert scale, with 1 representing total disagreement and 7 representing total agreement. Risk behavior was measured by a single item. This factor captures an individual's risk preferences. Participants could choose to "risk" an amount of money in a fictional scenario, limited to a range of 0 to 30 US dollars (USD), with 30 representing the maximum amount at risk and 0 representing the highest level of risk-aversion behavior.
