KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE TOWARDS TUBERCULOSIS (TB) IN N0N-MEDICAL STUDENT IN THE UNIVERSITY OF MMDU
Description
The infectious disease known as tuberculosis (TB) is communicable and is brought on by the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex. A cross-sectional survey study was conducted at MMDU Mullana, Ambala. The survey was conducted in the form of a self-developed questionnaire. Students with other than medical backgrounds were allowed to fill out the form. Out of 288, 286 are willing to participate in the study which gives a response rate of 99.8%. 158 males and 130 females participated in the study and the mean age calculated was 21.85. P value is < 0.001, it is highly significant. 52.8% of respondents are aware of tuberculosis and 58.7% know who is the causative organism. 38.5% of respondent know what are the symptoms of tuberculosis, 31.3% of respondent have good knowledge about the treatment of tuberculosis, 38.9% knows what are the preventive measures of TB, 49.3% knows it can be prevented, and 52.1% knows how it is transmitted from one person to another person. The study concluded that students without medical backgrounds have good knowledge of tuberculosis
