Description

This is a nested case-control study based on the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Early Detection Research Network (EDRN) HCC Early Detection Strategy (HEDS) cohort, a prospective multi-center cohort of cirrhosis patients for phase III validation of HCC biomarkers under the prospective specimen collection, retrospective blinded evaluation (PRoBE) design.The cases are cirrhosis patients who had serum samples at 1 and/or 2 years form the enrollment (with 3-month window). The 8 protien PLSec assay was performed in a blinded fashion at University of Texas Southwestern BioCenter using frozen serum samples archived in the HEDS biorepository.
