This dataset provides the technical documentation and data files for a Multi-Regional Social Accounting Matrix (MRSAM) for the United Kingdom, featuring a granular resolution of 12 regions and 42 economic sectors. Developed to support Spatial Computable General Equilibrium (SCGE) modeling specifically the UK UCL Subnational CGE model framework. This MRSAM integrates national input-output tables, national income and product accounts, and regional accounts via a rigorous top-down regionalization approach. Steps to reproduce
1. National-Level SAM Construction: Aggregate and reconcile national input-output tables, supply and use tables (SUTs), and national income and product accounts to establish a balanced national baseline Social Accounting Matrix. 2. Regional Data Compilation: Extract regional macro-level economic indicators (Gross Value Added [GVA], Gross Fixed Capital Formation, and Gross Disposable Household Income) from official UK regional accounts. 3. Top-Down Regionalization: Apply top-down allocation techniques using macro-level indicator variables to distribute national-level industrial outputs and transactions across the 12 UK regions (ITL1 framework). 4. Matrix Balancing: Reconcile inter-industry flows and regional accounts using biproportional matrix balancing procedures (RAS method) to ensure mathematical and accounting consistency across all 12 regions and 42 sectors. 5.
