- Data for: Experimental and theoretical study of the thermal decomposition of ethyl acetate during fast pyrolysisThis experimental investigation in the field of reaction engineering involves the design and proof of concept of a free fall pyrolysis reactor. The study includes the mathematical modelling for obtaining the reaction kinetics of the thermal decomposition of ethyl acetate as a model molecule. Also the effect of mass and heat transfer limitations within the reaction zone is calculated, so that the kinetic data can be obtained without the influence of transfer limitations. Finally, the experimentally obtained kinetic data is compared to theoretical calculations using transition state theory and literature. The results show that the concept of this vertical reactor is suitable for obtaining kinetic data of fast pyrolysis reactions. The main contributions of this investigation is the kinetic approach of thermochemical reactions in a novel fast pyrolysis setup. In further studies, more complex reaction systems can be investigated. T
