- Data and Code for: Testing for Urban Heterogeneity in Separability in TanzaniaData come from Tanzania’s 2014-15 wave of the Living Standards Measurement Study and Integrated Surveys on Agriculture (LSMS-ISA) project, sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and implemented with support from Tanzania’s national statistics office and the World Bank. Data are publicly available through the World Bank, Central Microdata Catalog. See project website (http://microdata.worldbank.org/index.php/catalog/2862) for questionnaires, technical documents, a study description, the data dictionary, or to request the microdata. Relevant data and Stata code are provided in the spirit of transparency. For convenience, the zip folder contains the seven relevant data files needed for this analysis. The Stata do file is annotated as efficiently as possible. Run the code to setup the two samples used in the analysis. When finished, Stata will stop and display the following message: “Note: Setup complete. Select and execute remaining code to replicate the results.” From here, select and run code under table headings to replicate results from the paper and appendices. Note that an additional section of “Analysis” code must be run before replicating Tables 4 & 5, and then again for Tables A3 & A4.

- FIPS-Africa Lead Farmer Extension Evaluation Project in Tanzania--Baseline Survey 2017This dataset was collected as part of an impact evaluation study conducted in Tanzania. The study uses a field experiment approach to assess the effectiveness of farmer-led extension in promoting the adoption of new agricultural technologies, namely, improved bean varieties and a chemical seed treatment (Apron Star). The dataset gives a representative picture of the socio-economic profiles and bean production characteristics of bean producers from 32 villages from two districts in Tanzania that were selected for this evaluation. Three rounds of surveys were conducted, each in 2017 (baseline), 2018 (endline), and 2021 (follow-up). This dataset represents the baseline farmer survey conducted in 2017.
