- Data for: Inequality in Body Mass Indices across Countries: Evidence from Convergence TestsThe dataset contains one estimate of the average adult body-mass index per gender and five aggregate variables for 172 countries for the period 1975-2014. The BMI estimates come from the database of NCD Risk Factor Collaboration (NCD-RisC; 2016). The aggregate variables are: globalization index, real gross domestic product (GDP), population, human capital index, and urbanization rates. To estimate average BMIS, the NCD-RisC use information from 1698 population-based data sources, with more than 19.2 million adult participants (9.9 million men and 9.3 million women) in 200 countries and territories between 1975 and 2014. These BMI series are not available on NCD-RisC website.
