- Data for: Transitional Tourist Gaze in a Post-War Destination: A Case Study of Jaffna, Sri LankaWe use TripAdvisor.com reviews as the sample that was made by the Sri Lankan domestic tourists in English, between May 2018 – December 2018 who visited Jaffna, a post-conflict destination, to explore the transitional domestic tourists’ gaze at a post-conflict destination. The data were collected during November 2018 and September 2019. Purposive sampling method was adopted to carefully select the data (reviews) which are most appropriate for consideration for analysis along with the study objectives. Accordingly, thirteen (13) tourist destinations were selected in Jaffna District for data collection and in total 173 reviews, were abstracted for analysis. Thematic analysis was performed in analyzing the data and cross-coding was performed to increase the validity and reliability. The thematic coding allowed us to categorize the data there-by letting different themes to emerge. Nvivo-11 (QSR International) software was used in qualitative coding because of its strong coding function. Any potential researcher can re-perform the thematic analysis and identify different themes that might help to expand the body of literature.
