- Data for: Effect of partial black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens L.) larvae meal replacement of fish meal in practical diets on the growth, digestive enzyme and related gene expression for rice field eel (Monopterus albus)Compared with FM, weight gain rate of M. albus was increased in HI supplemented groups, and those in the HI5.26 and HI10.52 groups were remarkably increased (P < 0.05); FCR in HI supplemented groups was lower that in the FM group, and HI5.26 was significantly decreased (P < 0.05). Compared with FM, condition factor of M. albus was significantly increased in HI5.26 and HI10.52 (P < 0.05). Compared with FM, cohesiveness of muscle was significantly decreased when FM was substituted with HI, and its hardness was significantly increased (P< 0.05); gumminess and adhesiveness of muscle were remarkably upregulated in HI5.26 and HI10.52 (P< 0.05), springiness and chewiness of muscle were remarkably upregulated in HI15.78 (P< 0.05). Compared with FM, activity of intestinal lipase increased with the supplementation level of HI and was significantly increased in HI15.78 (P < 0.05). Compared with FM, crude lipid content decreased with the level of HI supplementation, and that in HI15.78 was remarkably lower than that in FM (P < 0.05). Compared with FM, serum GOT, GPT, TG, CAT and MDA increased with the level of HI supplementation, and serum GOT, CAT, MDA levels were significantly higher in HI15.78 than in FM (P < 0.05). Compared with FM, activity of hepatic SOD decreased with proportion of HI, while hepatic CAT decreased with an increase in the proportion of HI. Good’s estimated sample coverage (ESC) in four groups were > 99%, indicating that the current sequencing depth could cover most of bacterial species. Compared with FM, shannon, chao1, abundance-based coverage estimator (ACE), operational taxonomic units (OTUs) were increased in the HI supplemented groups, and shannon, chao1, ACE, OTUs were significantly increased in HI15.78. OTU numbers were ranked in the following order HI15.78 > HI10.52 > HI5.26 > FM from sequence 0 to 60000 until stability (figure 4). (P < 0.05). Firmicutes was one of the most abundant groups in the gut flora of M. albus. Compared with FM, with an increase in the proportion of HI substitution for FM, gut relative abundance of firmicutes trended to decrease, and HI15.78 was remarkably decreased (P < 0.05), while relative abundance of proteobacteria trended to increase, and was significantly increased in HI15.78 (P < 0.05). Compared with FM, expression of FAS was significantly upregulated in HI groups (P < 0.05); expression of FASD2 and ME2 were significantly upregulated in HI5.26 (P < 0.05), expression of ACC and ME1 were significantly upregulated in HI10.52 (P < 0.05); abundance of CPT2 mRNA was significantly upregulated in HI5.26 and HI15.78 (P < 0.05); expression of PPARγ, G6PD and HSL were significantly upregulated in HI10.52 and HI15.78 (P < 0.05). The abundance of PPARα mRNA was significantly lower in HI15.78 than in FM (P < 0.05), but Dgat2 mRNA levels was significantly lower in HI15.78 than in FM (P < 0.05).
